Joshua Spier is a musician/composer currently residing in the sea/vines region of Fleurieu Peninsula (South Australia), where he plays piano and sings with his amigos. He has recorded with several groups/musicians. His work is grounded by piano and vocals, and features friends Tim Moore (double bass & guitar) and Tyson Baird (percussion).
In 2010, Josh released his third concept album 'Laurel Road', which has been described as "relaxing, romantic and calming"
(Editor, Adelaide Hills Magazine).
"Inspired by an old house in the Adelaide Hills and the arrival of a new born, 'Laurel Road' is a celebration. Instrumental tracks: 'Watta', 'Sunday Morning in Spring', 'Rain on Laurel Road' and 'Painting under Canopy' conjure expansive landscapes, describe atmosphere and light or simply hang in the air, suspended. The vocal tracks: 'Richer', 'You Find Me Out', 'Matilda's Waltz', 'Magnolia' and 'Making the Bed' celebrate the routine beauty and coolness in domestic minutiae and the responsibilities of bringing new life. Overall, 'Laurel Road' represents a flash point in artistic resolve. Each song simply arriving in the honest surrounds of a family home, a puzzle taking shape"
(Rod Smith, Firekites).
Josh has played the Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2006 & 2008, the Adelaide Fringe Festival and has headlined most venues in Adelaide.
The live show is absorbing and atmospheric. "With a voice as smooth as wine", Josh's music seamlessly "permeate the soul"
(The Advertiser).
